The Society has recently become the custodian of a series of Journals that we call “The Pastoral Review” journals.
This collection consists of publications which went under numerous titles between the years 1891 to 1977 (87 years).
When first published in 1891 they appeared as “The Australasian Pastoralists’ Review”, which became “The Pastoralists’ Review”, then
“The Pastoral Review” and finally “The Pastoral Review and Graziers’ Record”.
These journals were issued monthly as a record of “all matters affecting the pastoral and agricultural interests throughout Australasia.”
Until recently the collection was held by Charles Sturt University Archives.
Our collection comprises approximately 75% of all issues and commences with the bound edition of 1893.
The Society is working to compile an index of names, places, and issues that relate to the southern half of New South Wales which we will be doing over time. The first stage, indexing WW1 Service Volunteers featured in the journals, is now complete and can be accessed as outlined below.

One of the first things that we noticed in acquiring this collection was that the journals between 1914 and 1919 contain wonderful images of First World War Volunteers (Servicemen and some Nurses) whose photos were submitted by subscribers and family members. Together with the photos, the journals have an index page which provide father’s name and location as well as the military units in which they served. Luckily we had most of the issues covering the WW1 period (1914-1919). However we are missing 4 issues from this period. These are:
